God sent His son Jesus to rescue us and show us how to live. He is the only way to get to heaven, and the only way to find out who God made you to be.

Why people mess up at this point
Well-meaning Christians and many churches often push people to make this commitment and accept Christ. They will tell you to pray that you’re sorry for your sins, say you believe Jesus died for you, and say that you commit your life to Him. In the name of Jesus, Amen. WAYYYY too often, people think it’s the ritual that saves them. They believe if they pray a prayer using the “right” words, that act makes them a Christian – that that earns them salvation. It does not.
As I mentioned in the beginning, this is a big deal. The biggest. It’s not just saying something. It comes down to a BELIEF and a BIG, HUGE decision.
Of course, most people want to go to heaven, but saying you want to go to heaven does not get you into heaven. What does?
God is saving you FROM sin and death TO something: A life with Him. Guess what? When you choose to do life with God, guess who's going to be in charge? (Hint: It's not you.)
Choosing to be saved from sin and death is not only believing Jesus can do that – it's saying you want the result of that: Wanting to be with GOD forever is what you have to be saying yes to. Wanting to be done running your own life and wanting God to be in charge of your life is what you have to say yes to. Wanting to follow Jesus the rest of your life, and not going your own way or someone else’s is what you have to be saying yes to. Jesus came to get you to take you away from this dead life, and TO GOD so you can live – REALLY LIVE!
